Baby goes to Market wins a PreK Mathical Book Prize 2018

The Mathical Book Prize recognises maths-inspiring literature for children ages 2-18. Prize-wining books are selected by a committee of teachers, librarians and mathematicians.

We have lots of fun counting out aloud at events for Baby goes to Market - it is so great to be recognised by such an important Prize.

Here are some lovely activity suggestions from the Math Storybook Guide:

“When reading Baby goes to Market, readers can count the fruit and vegetables that go into Mama’s basket, talk about what happens when one of the fruits is taken away (first subtraction) and practice counting down from 5,4,3,2,1 in reverse order. “

“Play Grocery Store: Give your child some play food (or real food) to “sell” to you. You buy 5 apples. Cover them. Take one away as your child watches. Ask, “how many are left under the cover? Children love to play “Shops” – it is so much fun for role play.”
