Baby Goes to Market is a winner of The Children’s African Book Awards (CABA): It has been named a 2018 Best Book!

The Children’s Africana Book Awards (CABA) are presented annually to the authors and illustrators of the best children’s and young adult books on Africa published or republished in the U.S. The awards created by Africa Access and the Outreach Council of the Africana Studies Association (ASA) encourage the publication and use of accurate, balanced children’s materials about Africa.

CABA’s three major objectives are:

• to encourage the publication of children’s and young adult books that contribute to a better understanding of African societies and issues,

• to recognize literary excellence,

• and to acknowledge the research achievements of outstanding authors and illustrators.

This is very exciting news and we are thrilled that Baby Goes to Market has been honoured in this way and by such an important organisation.

What is more we have been invited to attend the awards’ ceremony and CABA Festival which will be hosted by the Center for African Studies at Howard University in Washington, DC on the campus of Howard University.

This means Atinuke and I will be flying to Washington DC!
